Introduction

Hello, my name is Archie. I'm a 20 year old games art student now in my second year at NTU. I really enjoy colourful cartoon style cartoons and take a lot of my art inspo from it! I also enjoy artistic style clown makeup and outfits and pull a lot of inspiration from there too.

I chose to take Games art because I frequent play a variety of video games and am actively involved in the different creation and lore of their respective universes. I enjoy this extra element to video games besides their core gameplay and wanted to be involved within this through this course.

My main aspiration and goal that I hope to achieve through my involvement in this course would to one day gain a tattooist apprenticeship and start learning the ropes of creating tattoos, I'd also be equally happy to be part of a development team working on a game franchise that matches the themes and styles I enjoy. I would especially love to be part of a cartoon style horror game development in particular.

I have two pet rats named Skrunkly and Scribbles and spend a lot of my free time with them, their cage is also right next to my pc set up so they can chill along side me while I work! I used to want to take a veterinary path and study something that involved care for animals. As a child I always wanted to work in a zoo! I decided to follow on from the qualifications I had gained from college doing Graphic design however and give Games Art a try.

I really struggle with confidence and motivation especially with art. Art is a very varied and subjective thing and everybody has different taste, but I am really guilty of falling victim to comparing myself to others and their skills instead of focusing on myself. I may not feel that I am of the same standard as my classmates and other artists but in comparison to where I started from back in first year, I am definitely making progress.
